I met this boy who I have been meeting for 2 months his ex and her new boyfriend are so obsessed with me and him and go on about us. He broke up with her bc she cheated and he told me she hates me. I get weird vibes as he does not talk to me a lot on text anymore because I’m on placement in a different country for 1 month. I don’t know if I should escape him when I go back to my hometown. I don’t know if he’s lusting or his intentions were bad at the start and now he actually might like me or he just likes the sex

If you are indeed in the 18-24 age group, then you can be almost 100% sure that he is lusting for fornication because men are basically only thinking of that when they meet women that they like.

The fact that you are away for one month is probably also the reason he does not text or talk to you anymore because he cannot get hold of you and satiate his libido.

To me, that would be a red flag to know that because you are away from him he does not connect with you anymore. That is indicative that he only likes your body and not so much you as a person.
