Perhaps I will ask the Girls in a different way, and say "what do you look for in Men now and how many men do you find out there that have these traits?"

There are less good people out there. It only appears that women have the short straw because societally women have fewer obligations. Women’s lives are almost exclusively privilege and freedom. Men still have expectations placed on them almost universally. So lousy women who do nothing meaningful for the man in their lives is “girl power” and men who do nothing meaningful for the women in their lives are misogynistic.
It’s a problem of perspective. Marriage and childbirth rates are at historic lows. That’s not because every woman is a catch and every man is trash, despite what the mainstream media is telling everyone. Women STILL benefit from marrying a trash man. Marry him, get pregnant by someone else and then divorce him to steal everything he owns and everything he’ll earn for the next two decades. Women are FAR more likely to “settle” with this winning lottery ticket guaranteed by law and societal norms. Men however have nothing to gain and literally everything to lose. It’s the choices of good, self respecting men that have the establishment worried about where their next generation of labor and soldiers are going to come from.

Ok thanks for your opinion and viewpoints and it perhaps suggests you feel men have not been given a fair and balanced position at times correct In this type of observation - which is a fair view I suppose.

Sure, there are fewer and fewer good men out there. But there are also fewer and fewer good women out there. Stay away from the internet addicted trash of both genders and dating apps / social media. The internet has damaged dating. Go meet people the old fashioned way... face to face. Take the risk. Suffer the rejections. Enjoy the wins.

A freind of mine explained this is a real problem actually, in that the girls put a filter on so only a few guys get approached online who then simple use the girls and dont offer any value longer term, where as other guy dont get a look in.

It can feel that way sometimes, but it’s not that “good men” are disappearing , it’s that expectations and dating culture have changed.

Common reasons it feels harder:
• People are more cautious after bad experiences
• Apps create overload and shallow filtering
• Many focus on careers or self growth first
• Standards are clearer now (which isn’t bad)

Good partners still exist on both sides.
The challenge is alignment, timing, and recognizing real character over surface traits.

Not really. Though, I go to a huge school, so it isn't exactly hard to have a lot of choices.

I am in a relationship and have been for some time since starting school here. That said, before I met my current boyfriend, I did not find that there were only a few that would have been worth pursuing.

I met a lot of guys that were nice. I still do each semester. Being in a relationship, it doesn't matter, but there are many that if I was not, I would consider dating. Not just a few.

Couple things. "Good ones" is subjective. Every girl is looking for something different. For example, I can find a guy attractive, polite, kind, etc... but if he is a guy that doesn't like to socialize, that won't work for me. Doesn't mean he isn't the perfect guy for a different girl or that he isn't "good". It just isn't the right match.

The other thing is that a lot of what you see as desperation is going to be circumstantial. I go to a university the size of a small city. If I was in a very small town, my options of course will be more limited.

Well a really intelligent reply and thankyou its so true. I think its not desperation as all of the girls are pretty and intelligent, its more that perhaps their circle is small yes - and so whats on offer is indeed limited. Which part of the world are you from Abby? Im uk

It has been freezing cold for a couple of weeks. Below 0ºF quite a few mornings. The one week was so bad, the entire campus did virtual classes for safety reasons. Some of us have to walk a long ways.

Today, we have our first warmup since that bitter cold.

That's where all that cold air came from... Canada. We are just across the border.

We have to follow each other to DM. That and level 1 can't initiate DMs. I do not give outside contact to others, but I do share things (photos, voice messages, etc) here with people I get to know and feel comfortable with.

Yes they do. And it's only from their skewed perception that they have a very limited time to find a good man and lock him down. Their perception is that they are fighting other women, age/a biological clock, as well as a shrinking pool of viable men. There is some truth to this, but ONLY some. Most of it is hyperbole. "Good men" lies largely in their perception. If you're a good woman, you have no competition. And a woman while she may have a limited window to have kids, it's not that small really, and a Good woman never loses value.

No, but too many women overvalue themselves at the price of passing up good men.

I think you are right in some cases, but they too end up chasing a very small section of men and come up against other women who also rate themselves highly, which doesn't always end well for them.
