Trending & News That's a hard question to answer. Because what does that mean exactly? For example I know there are many women in my life who gave me a chance to date them. Some of them going as far as to ask me. But does that mean I'm single by choice? Women, just like men, if we're not feeling it, we're not feeling it. And just because you begin a relationship does not mean you're going to be able to maintain that relationship. There are a lot of people that look at relationships as socks and they change them frequently. I'm not one of them. I don't take friendships lightly and I don't take relationships lightly either. And I guess that's the way I have to answer this question. Not that people are either single by choice or not. But whether they treat relationships with the respect they deserve or not. And my answer to that is they don't. We live in a world where most people star in a movie of their own life. And every person that comes into it, be it man or woman is just playing a supporting role. I get relationships have to be built you don't start off loving someone deeply. But every person whether they be male or female should treat the other persons feelings with respect.
Yes. With infinitesimally limited exceptions, everyone who is single is so due in at least some part to their own choices. Whether they choose not to ask out someone who might very well accept the offer, or they’re turning someone down for whatever reason or no reason at all, they made their choices.
Very few people go through the entirety of their lives with ZERO opportunities to connect with others. Every time they choose NOT to connect, they are contributing more or less to their singleness and often loneliness.
This is especially true of those who never try. They imagine only the worst case scenarios and then talk themselves out of opportunities because they ultimately can’t perceive their own value, let alone project it to potential mates. It’s a self defeating mindset creating a self fulfilling prophecy.
Not really. I’m single and I don’t like it. I’m single because I haven’t come across a guy I really liked in the past few years. Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of money so it’s hard for me to travel or go to places to increase my chances of meeting somebody. I also don’t like the idea of dating websites because too many people edit their pictures or take over 50 pictures from different angles and lights and post the best one and I don’t like being deceived. Also too many scams and potentially predators online. It could also maybe be somebody planning to meet up in person because they want to rob you. I have seen to many stories like this in my life. I don’t want to use dating websites. It seems like there are too many weirdos there.

Anyway to answer your question I would guess the majority of people are single just because they are struggling to meet somebody they like enough to the point they want to be more than friends. Some people have higher standards than others.
Unlikely—most people aren’t single purely by choice. Very few are, but for many people it’s a mix of timing, circumstances, and emotional readiness rather than a simple “I want to be single.”
Some people simply don't know any better.

I don't think about that... as it doesn't really matter to me
Yes. Even if someone is ugly, there's other desperate ugly people who would date them. The problem is they think they deserve better, but can't get better so they stay single.
