People believe what they believe for a lot of reasons , background, experience, personality.

IQ alone feels like a very small piece of a much bigger picture.

To me, how someone thinks matters more than what box they fit into.

Intelligence tests do try to capture certain ways of thinking, especially logical reasoning and problem solving.

I just think human thinking is broader than what any single metric can fully capture.

We use intelligence tests mainly to predict academic success or failure and occupational successor failure in certain occupations. These two things turn out to be extremely important to guidance counselor and people who teach technical subjects and people who want to engage in difficult occupations.
