Were you already friends on Instagram or did you just go look up her profile and intend to reach out? If you were already friends then I don't see the issue with it.

If you are just looking her up, then it may come off as weird to some as I would think that, in that same situation, I would have given you my info before I left so we could stay in touch. You digging me up out of the blue, MIGHT come off as thoughtful, but more than likely I'd feel uncomfortable being forced into a conversation with a person I never really gave much thought about.
