Does this barista’s extra friendly behavior mean he likes me?

A couple days ago, I was trying to figure out what to order and I looked up and he was smiling at me really big, like ear to ear. He has a really soft, nice smile and he’s really cute. While taking my order, he told me, “I think I remember your order from last time,” even though the last time he made my order was a couple months ago, and he actually remembered most of it, just missed a couple things.

Then he told me he sees me there a lot and said, “I just wanted to let you know, I see you coming all the time. I really appreciate you coming in and letting me make you a drink.” After I sat down, I was about to go back up, but he came over to my table instead, asked my name, and when I told him, he said, “spell it out for me,” and then introduced himself like, “I’m Alex, by the way, nice to meet you.” It just felt a little more personal than a normal interaction.

At the same time, I know he’s at work and being friendly is part of the job, so I don’t really know, but I still want some opinions on what you think this interaction means.

It's not so much that he likes you but rather that you like him and you would like him to reciprocate for whatever reason.

Since you placed your question under the "Dating" topic, it is obvious that you would like if something would happen but he is only doing his job and nothing more. Baristas and other waiters or service personnel work for a tip and the friendlier they are, the better their tips usually are.

It would be very unprofessional of him to even remotely start to want to mingle with customers. This is may be counter productive for management because, very often, they would give discounts to those people and that is not really how business should work.

Separate work from private business. Always!

No not at all never had that happened from a barista or someone in food service other than a restaurant, and I went back and he couldn’t keep his eyes off me
