Do women genuinely value intelligence in men, or just status and money?

Question

To the extent that intelligence helps a man to make money, I think women value it, but certainly not as much as they value things like good looks or height or just being rich.

It is is said that the conscious is find justification for what the unconscious mind has already decided. This more true in sexual attraction than any other area.

In careful studies men are almost 5 IQ points ahead of women. In Northern Europe there were good reasons for women to sexually select smart men because if a man didn't plan for winter and execute the plan, she would be likely to die as well as her children during winter. The women who liked smart men would do better and her children would do better. In time women who liked smart men would dominate the female gender.

Certainly the more intelligent a man is, the more likely he is to marry and that indicates it is a quality women look for. But it doesn't by any means, mean it is a conscious selection nor does it mean there is not an overlap with other desirable traits.

Conversely women with higher I Qs are less likely to marry.

In my case gfs have noted approvingly that I was smarter than them and thouht it good..

An intelligent woman will want an intelligent man. Nobody wants to be with someone with the IQ of a box of hammers. How much money he makes or his looks have very little to do with it. This phenomenon is another reason why so many men will always struggle to be successful with relationships. They focus on ALL the wrong things.

It's a somewhat layered question.

Shallow women only care about money and status and the standard of life a man can provide or the benefits they gain by being with them.

Intelligence is an attractive trait to most women, but alone it's not enough for them. You could technically be the most intelligent guy in the world, and if you are not smooth with your words or communicate well, are very awkward socially, don't look attractive, and are dirt poor and not independent, you wouldn't have many prospects.

Intelligence in what sense? A high IQ score limited to test environments? Probably not.

Intelligence as in being able to talk interestingly about almost anything, being quick witted, mentally stimulating and able to teach even mundane things interestingly? Absolutely.

Reading remains the most attractive hobby in a man. Now if you can't wield your intelligence in an attractive manner it is to little benefit. But if you look but reek like a sewer the same applies.

I assure you women in general appreciate men that are interesting to talk to. Intelligence is the single most standout trait for that but not the full equation.

Woman are selfish gold diggers by nature and in their DNA. They only value what will give them more value in a mate. In the modern world intelligence normally achieves the better outcome consistently.

I disagree. An intelligent women will not choose a dull man regardless of how much money he has. The women who choose a man for his money aren't all that intelligent.
