319 opinions shared on Relationships topic. I mean. It just can't stop there. If you're both gonna be intelligent. You're both aware of realities in life and relationship. Easier to pick up things and work on them.
With my intelligence- I've mastered recognizing 'complex,' and simplifying it. As a person of intelligence- I've cut my issues and negatives down more than half.
Some I could seriously avoid- I instead give more attention to working positively.
Actually yeah... intelligent people cut out a lot of drama. He said. She said. Grudges and emotional confusion. Two intelligent people can rule out discussing sex philosophically in the bedroom, and save it for a later... more convenient time ;)
They understand self. The other. General situations.
Grasping understanding really helps.
It's like walking away from being that little kid who cried and asked their parents "why don't they like me?" "Why did they bully me? I did nothing wrong?" "Why did mom/ dad leave us?"
It's confusion. Holding unnecessary pain. Not seeing the situations for what it is. It keeps that kid a little longer away from enjoying life. Understanding/ appreciating self and loved ones, and recognizing other people and situations.
That kid could be eating ice cream. Playing. Laughing. If that kid learns from their parents the truth of the matter. They'll do just that. Walk away with joy, and cone in hand. Living a simple happy life.
Intelligence helps with that. It solves, and eliminates problems.
It's the metaphoric example of the luxury of using 'square roots,' and then dividing or subtracting or whatever must be done afterward. Dealing with a simplified number is a lot easier than dealing with a mega number.
later on, when the problem is solved, you can choose to try and comprehend the vastness of the original number, for fun, but ultimately you would have saved yourself the heartache, as compared to a person who didn't know the simplifying method you knew.
Intelligence? It saves us from heartache.

You're confusing intelligence and awareness.
- +1 y
@242plusInfinity awareness falls under the 'umbrella' of intelligence. So does 'focus'/ 'attention'-span.
'Awareness' is also a type of 'observation.' Scientists (with intelligence) make observations, and become more aware of the 'unknown.' Goldfish were believed to have a 3-second attention-span/ memory and were considered lamebrained/ low in I. Q.
Chess players are intelligent in their awareness of their opponent's pieces on the board and the placement of their own pieces.
Another common form of intelligence is problem solving.
Intelligence can be associated with finding/ identifying patterns. That would require an awareness/ alertness for the array of objects/ variables involved/ present.
You just made that idiotic claim to only imply that my admitting to my own intelligence was mistaken or that my response was wrong. It's not wrong and I am highly intelligent- and I know you're no qualified person to register that, and you're further incompetent to even try to make my intelligence a form of topic to make argument or teaching here on this opinionated site.
So move along, and I've already mentally moved you along for you- meaning any, and every reply you disclose, will be highly ignored with no genuine interest, and no considerable value.

+1 yThe type of intelligence that bothers me is if a guy yells at you or throws a tantrum at you for not meeting his standards. Like a guy was interested in me and I told him I thought this disabled guy I knew was annoying because he always asked me for money and he told me to block the other guy. I agree being a leech is bad but blocking somebody without prior discussion seems harsh to me. I know two good looking guys who yelled at their friends for failures in attention, one guy was messy with a shelf item and got yelled at and another guy was messy with the projector and got yelled at for his carelessness. I can't stand people like that. Unless I rob a bank or beat somebody up, I do not condone being yelled at.

Yes. Dating a stupid partner or just someone who's really thick and dumb, regardless of how hot they may be is like buying a sexy new sports car but without the engine. And what do you do with a car that doesn't have an engine? You tow it around, trying to look cool because it can't drive itself.
The same thing goes for relationships. It's okay being the smart one in the relationship, but if your partner is just an outright idiot who has no sense of how the world works, no emotional sensitivity to things that need it, no care for others and just a lack of a brain, then you're in deep shit, my friend. Trust me, their innocence and naivety may seem cute to you, but later on when you realize they lack empathy and cannot relate to a thing you say, you'll start regretting being with them more and more.
I'd rather date a 6 or 7 whom I can have a genuine, mature, deep and intellectual conversation with, rather than a solid 10 who can't understand or relate to a word I say.00 Reply

+1 yI dated a very intelligent girl. We are both engineers. Shit, figuring her out was like trying to play 3D chess. We could literally read each others intent just with body language. It created a lot of anxiety for me. Loved her, but drove me insane at the same time. I married someone who is, well, not as intelligent... Its worked out better and more relaxing for me even though trying to explain simple things to her is very frustrating

+1 yThere will always be men and women alike that are attracted to intelligence. My intelligence has always been an asset when attracting women. And, I need to be with a woman with high emotional intelligence and the ability have deep philosophical and existential discussions with me. So, yes. I believe it does help. But, it also depends on the type of men and women you want to attract. Intelligence is often attracted to intelligence.

+1 yBeing intelligent is always helpful in most ways. It CAN be a problem when there’s a great disparity in intelligence between any two people. In this case it is the dummy’s responsibility to catch up, not the know-it-all’s responsibility to play down their intelligence for the sake of the dummy’s feelings. I simply do not understand the current trend of glorifying ignorance and prioritizing feelings over facts.
21 Reply- +1 y
emotions and logic don't equate. Both factor in magnificent ideas and understanding though.
I agree about catching up, but the so-called intelligent person could explain logic (depending on how close/ far off they are to each other.) All I know is that in love and rarity. Some are willing to wait.
Scratch the cliche of love. In Companionship, some are willing to wait.
highly intelligent people tend to marry other highly intelligent people. do you really think a genius would be attracted to an idiot?

Nobody is an idiot really and if they are, they were born missed up. Some people have more knowledge than others, that's it. Chill with the colorfully language.

@242plusInfinity “ Chill with the colorfully language.”

hard work does not grauntee that you will see success. Its kinda like saying if I practice basketball enough , then I would be as good as kobe byant. This is never going to happen because I simply do not have the talent or the height as kobe. It will not matter how hard I work. Same thing for intelligence. Some people are born to be smarter. More powerful brains. Superior memory performance. - +1 y
@haha456 So dumb people have no any dignity?
- +1 y
@haha456 Oh well... how bad! Then lets abort dumb people. Useless. What else should we do?
Do you think calling them more names would make everything better or they get smarter? If science claims that intelligence is mere genetic... then what can the dumb person do for its intellect?
Do you see how many questions in your statement have been formed? - +1 y
Either you are trolling or uneducated or... can't understand the meaning of an argument because I didn't give the message to kill smart people by that. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I personally think that we should be all thankful to have genuises and also in the history that helped/saved so many people.
But also at the same time don't completely debase stupidity. Think about it. Are you trying to say that stupid people or disabled have no dignity? If so, why not? How come? Why do you think like this? They can perform a job in their own level.
Let's have a peaceful discussion I'd say? But before I want to let you know that English is not my native language. - +1 y

@DenizLikesTennis
why would you think stupid people have dignity?
if you flunked at school, work a minimum wage jobs where you can barely pay your bills, you can afford to support your own kids. you are uneducated, made a ton of mistakes in life, failed in life over and over again. then your kid grows up to be just dumb as you and have no hope of succeeding in life. you get rejected over and over again until you finally settle for a subpar life that you hate.
how would you still have dignity? - +1 y
The value of a human is not based on its capabilities and attributes.
- +1 y
What would you do if you had a disabled son/daughter with that attitude?
- +1 y
We are all not born the same. That's why. And what are the chances dealing with such a situation?
- +1 y
@DenizLikesTennis
is that something you have pride in? to lose to smart people, fail at everything you do, struggle to pay rent and food, low self esteem? have other people looking down on you. watching other people get what they want out of life while you can't seem to get anything you want?
continue loving how stupid you are. - +1 y
Okay, I came to the conclusion that you are trolling. Ignored.
Still, nonetheless, I wish you a great start into the week😊
As in if it is a benefit in finding a partner? Not especially. The things commonly brought by a high intelligence might help.
It doesn't harm you much of course. But as always the real divide in people finding partners is down to whether or not you're putting yourself out there first and foremost. Followed bt slightly less important traits like looks and gender.00 Reply
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yIt actually makes dating tougher. Natural intelligence doesn’t mean you can grasp “animal spirits” i. e. social queues and nuances in others. It doesn’t make you street smart.
It also makes you overanalyze behaviors that are often not rationale to your pov (e. g. young women chasing assholes). Those behaviors are impossible to fully understand.

+1 yIf it helps you to relate to the other and communicate well and as well resolve conflict yes. If it results in endless debates that you are right, then no.
and the question may be... what kind of intelligence... emotional, mathematical?

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yDepends what kind of intelligence, I’m academically mid my ex’s have all been academically gifted in one way or another however they’ve all had no life experience I mean fixing things, using household appliances washing machines/ovens/boilers/vacuuming/ironing just basic things you’d think a 23 yr old would know they did not. I think it’s because they were coddled by their parents too much.

+1 yHuman intelligence and logic rarely are of much benefit in a relationship- where emotions are king. Specifically, a female's high intelligence has been shown to be a detriment to a relationship working.
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yNot really. When it comes to understanding the way women think you have to comletely suspend logic and just think about her emotions. Then you need to use your logic to weed out what is workable to a solution that is acceptable for everyone. And when to tell her to stop acting like a child.

@Rosexøxø I'm serious... dumb women want to fuck with me about how I say things all the way down to what I meant by that when I didn't even mean anything. I can't even win for losing with a dumb chick. To make it worse they think they're smart... there's a word for that. I have to look it up... The Dunning–Kruger effect!
I'm getting all flustered just thinking about having to deal with dumb bitches. 😂 - +1 y
The contrary. Very few women are intelligent. Few men are intelligent. But the ones who are intelligent, are usually men.

A smart man doesn't intentionally try to end up paying child support. And people who aren't mentally alike don't typically get or stay married.
Opinion Owner+1 y@TheSpaceGnome yeah, you're right. I haven't gotten a better idea in a short time. This was on my mind as Well.
Then again there are some men, who have managed to stay away from paying child support but i don't know the % of those.
