Having a high IQ is worthless if you don't do anything with it. College is one way of doing something with it. But it's certainly not the only way. In many cases it's better to skip college.

Some women specifically want a man with a college degree. But I think what's more important is to do something with your life. Sitting around not accomplishing anything is not very attractive.

There are a lot of qualities that go into being successful and doing something with your life. A high IQ is an advantage, but other traits are far more important. Other traits are more important to get a college degree also.

Because most men without a college degree don’t do anything of note with their lives. Not pursuing an education is perceived as a lack of ambition and self confidence.

Oh sure you can point to a few successful guys who don’t have higher education. But most will end up in dead end jobs that land them in the lower middle class. That’s not every woman’s dream.

Also, college isn’t just about the degree. It’s also about social development and maturing as a person. Learning about responsibility and self motivation and meeting obligations. It’s about the transition from childhood to manhood.

And then there are the guys stuck reliving their high school glory days and still wearing a baseball cap backwards at 45 after they finish their shift work and head to Joe Bob’s sack of suds to drink beer with the same guys they’ve been hanging out with since 9th grade.

Congratulations on your new job. So just some professional point of view. How do you feel about catamarans versus monohulls. I personally dislike catamarans because of the capsize risk, but what do you think about them as a pro?

@msc545 For my own use I prefer monohulls. A cat indeed can capsize, and it loses its stability already at around 20 degrees heel. But I don't think they are unsafe when the skipper knows the boat. You can reef earlier, keep alerted if hard winds are expected and in general have an eye on the anemometer. Burkhard Pieske and Ellen Mc Arthur as examples never got into major trouble. Where I see a downside about cats is on the owners' side: The boats have a large living area and present time people tend to overcrowd them with equipment ant gimmicks. So the boats become so heavy that their basic speed advantage is gone. Especially the Lagoons also have such a low middle clearance to the water that they constantly slam the waves. This is for the sailing cats. Where especially here in Thailand the motor-cats have next to no disadvantage. Personally, I knew two guys who abandoned their boat in really bad weather at the Australian barrier reef (engine rooms flooded, and sails jammed). Three months after their swift rescue they found the boat... it had only minor damages and was still floating upside up. The ''safety concerns'' rather come from having one's own preference. Nothing wrong with this: boats are like wives... treat them nice - or they respond like girls. And: there's one specific one that's just right to us, but to no one else :)
