I guess I don't necessarily get lonely that much. Boredom is the bigger worry for me. I try to be doing something, exercising or reading or working/studying, whatever.

If you've got something in front of you, something you're trying to accomplish, that will probably do a lot to keep loneliness or boredom at bay. It will give you something to concentrate on besides how you feel.
