How many Frogs do you have to kiss to find the one?

One of the things that have kept me from dating over the years were the ridiculous expressions like "you've got to kiss a lot of frogs to find the prince." I thought... I really don't want the drama or the rollercoaster... I have responsibilities and don't want my kids exposed to a string of ridiculous men... so I shut out the attention and didn't pay attention to the frogs... avoided the pond altogether.

But I'd like to know -- from those of you who are now happily married -- how many "frogs" was it for you?

I had a string of bad relationships over the course of a year. Some were my fault I admit. I think there was 6 of them. Eventually I decided I would give up on dating for a while or maybe forever.
Ironically the next day I met my future wife.

That happened to me... a very unusual stream of interest over the course of one year and then ended with me meeting my future (now ex) husband. Picked the wrong frog there, lol.

Apparently a lot , because there isn’t many honest people out there , that tell you the things you want to hear , but then you find out they were blowing smoke up your ass the whole time , and were just trying to get into your pants instead. To really get to know each other without the pressure of rushing into a committed relationship with each other right away , Even though my intentions is to continue seeing her and only her , that isn’t always her intentions , we aren’t mind readers so I figured this is the best way to be on the same page with someone until we both see the big picture , instead of having our heart broken if one of us changes our mind , which happens a lot , I just make it clear to her that I don’t want to be sleeping with a girl that is screwing other guys’ as well and i am pretty sure she doesn’t want me screwing other girls’ either , FWB’s with some strings attached gives her and I time to really get to know each other and from my experiences with girls’ the ones I became friends’ with first ended up being the better relationships from my personal experiences, Nowadays it seems like casual sex is the new norm and I am not really into that whatsoever, I like having sex with a girl that actually means something and possibly going somewhere with it ,
Instead of just getting off on each other. So FWB’s with some strings attached kind of keeps her and I on the same page if she is honest with me , we also agree we can date other people if we choose to but promise not to sleep with any of them unless we no longer want the benefits part between us , this only works with honest people.

But yea there was a time I was dating 7 girls’ at once , that I was completely honest with all of them that I wasn’t looking to rush into a relationship right away , since I just got out of a relationship , I said I am just having fun and seeing what’s out there , leaving these girls’ a choice on whether they want to continue dating me or not , but they all wanted to continue dating me lol , so I was having fun and getting to know these girls’ as much as possible before I was going to settle down with one of them , and the one girl ended up becoming my wife from it but now she is my ex after 20 some years , Now that I am 48 years old , i don’t want to date a bunch of girls’ at once , I am hoping to find a great girl without having to juggle a bunch of them , but so far it seems like I might have to lol

god hopefully none. Though my wife called me her "Diamond in the rough" mostly because i dont see my self as attractive. I work hard, own my home, own my car (no payments on either), keep my head down, im honest to a fault. But our getting together was basically an accident of fate. We met at a concert, the weather got bad, i offered her my bed and i would take the couch until it cleared enough to get home safely, and she didn't give me a choice in dating, two weeks after she went home she texted me and said "We are going out this weekend, you dont have a choice". im like um okay. and it went from there.

I naively used to believe once you kiss someone that is a commitment for life.

You see it boils down who you accept and who can accept you.
I never got anyone who accepted me in my whole life. Never got to be the option.
I was always that guy who can they come to when things are wrong.

In my 20s not many. I was bombarded…. I picked out what I wanted. My ex and I was good… but a crazy mother in law … he is an only child so that didn’t worked out.

My second marriage… not too bad… kissed a few frogs then gag send me my prince. Happily married now.

For you as a single mother, you are burdened with the pretty negative stigma of single-moms being a red flag. Hope you are not like most of them and break that stereotype

I'd like it NOT to be a perceived red flag, especially since mine aren't little rug rats. I made sure to raise them properly on my own. I'm only open to dating now bc I don't have the parenting obligations on my shoulders anymore. Not that guys seem to gaf about it at all.

It's always seemed funny to me that guys will go sow their oats night and day but then be bothered if a good woman who was faithful to her guy and did everything correctly is "red flagged" for being a good mom and navigating things on her own. Ridiculous.
