Why did this autistic guy gaslight me, lie about his identity, and then act nicer afterward?

I met a guy (we both have Asperger's Syndrome); and he had told me multiple times that I was ugly and that he had chosen someone else over me, when I was trying to be friends with him. He had also said he was my therapist's son that I see for depression and then turned around and denied it. He made up multiple different stories and gas lit me. Then he grew facial hair and talked to me as someone else rather than as himself, on a dating app, wanting us to sneak around together rather than have his family and friends know me. I think basically he was embarrassed to be interested in a fat woman who wasn't his usual type and wasn't wealthy, or else he really was my therapist's son and still didn't think I was worth waiting for to make things legal first by changing therapists. Or maybe he just got desperate and never had a girlfriend to begin with.

In any case, I won't be snuck around like I'm someone to be embarrassed to be seen with, so I blocked the new number and the online alias. We're still acquaintances now on his official account and we're getting on okay and he seems nicer since I rejected him.
