I think the majority of athletes choose women similar to them in race and religious values, it's just the ones with exotic wives get more attention since marrying outside your race is considered unconventional and it arouses more curiosity then conventional and traditionally common marriage choices.

I don't think it's that common. Interracial couples just stand out more. Plus, media has pushed White women as the beauty standard for decades, so for some people it can feel like a status symbol. But at the end of the day, it's mostly just personal preference.

I’m not Black, but I suspect because in Black culture white girls are seen as the ultimate achievement. (On the show Empire like eight years ago, music mogul Lucius Lyon criticized his sons for chasing after “white lawyers and white wives.”) But someone who really is Black or mixed race can feel free to correct me.

I dunno if that's even a thing. I like football but I don't pay much attention to the WAGs. Having said that a lot of people date outside of their ethnicity and that's fine.
