If he says I’m like family, why does it matter who texts first now?

He’s not romantically interested in me. He said he loves me like family. Why does it suddenly matter which one of us messages first? I thought this rule only applied to romantic interest?

There are no rules. We can establish boundaries and end relationships with people who don't respect them. Is he complaining that you are texting too often, or not often enough?

It turns out that he needs a routine because he’s got Asperger’s. I told him to choose how often during the week to text me, unless I’m inviting him out.
