Just stop initiating texts with him all the time and see if he sends you a text. Maybe he doesn't like to text, but I'd feel like I'm annoying him if I always have to be the one texting him.

Well I don't like texting or messaging first because it makes me feel like I could be bugging the person. I have a fear of upsetting people I like.

Bottom line is (at least for me);

If you like a girl enough you will make the effort yourself by starting conversations etc.

No no no. It has nothing to do with turn offs / turn ons. There's only two possibilities;

1) he just isn't a big texter/lacks self confidence

2) he doesn't like you the way you like him

And again, I'm sorry, but the likelihood is the latter. If you prove me wrong then congratulations but if I'm right, well, it's just another relationship that didn't have a chance.
