Can a relationship last when the woman earns more than the man?

Yes it can. But here’s why it won’t work. A lot of women who make more tend to rub it in a man’s face, especially when it comes to arguments. That’s where it becomes an issue. Especially because society expects men to provide financially. So when she starts throwing that out, I make more than you, I don’t need you, I can pay my own bills, etc, etc, that’s where it becomes an issue.

That's extremely depressing view of men and women you've got there. There are four different couples very close to me. In all of them the woman makes more than the guy. These are not new-age hippie couples either. One of them is a super-conservative Trump-voter.

The way I see it... if the woman will flee the relationship the moment she has the money to do so, that's a rather large problem with the relationship.

What kind of crappy relationship would not last just because the woman earns more than the man? It sounds like they should have broken up long ago if something that shallow is a problem.

That's not something that's going to be a problem for anyone but a husband with a super-fragile ego, or a wife who is a gold digger.

Not usually because the woman often does not contribute and still expects the man to cover almost all life expenses no matter how much she gets and often uses it to insult him in front of others. If women were actually fair, kind, and caring it would be fine, but most only value men for the resources they can extract from him.

Honestly, no. Initially it might be okay for the man but if this continues for a long time then it won't end well and chances are high that there might be fights, disagreements and eventually result in break up.

It certainly can, assuming he pull his weight and makes you feel appreciated. Women my age and younger out earn their male counterparts, so it might be a new normal.

And both my aunts did as well when they were working. They're retired now. Two of my former coworker's wives do to. They're something over 50. This doesn't seem like something that should be hugely controversial. These aren't super-hippie left-leaning blue-haired people either. I live in the deeply socially conservative state of Missouri, and that's how half those people are.

Why? There's lots of other ways to contribute... even very traditionally masculine ways. My two aunts make more money but my two uncles are great at doing plumbing and carpentry around the house and know something about working on cars. They contribute fine.

Plus, what will help the relationship most is being adaptable and not trying to force oneself into little boxes into which one does not fit. If the wife makes more money, just help out in other ways. Maybe he'll have more time to do other useful stuff.
