Why do men commit more crime than women?

[Anonymous]

8-9 out of 10 times when I hear about murder, rape, gangs, guns, accidents on the news, its always a man who is the perpetrator. why are men much more likely to commit crime than women?

[Nikki1989]

Men are more hard-wired to be violent, antisocial people.

[Abbycado]

They are more violent.

One thing people overlook is that men are more likely to be prone to addiction to drugs and alcohol, and around 85% of incarcerated people have some form of substance use disorder. If we prioritized helping individuals with substance use disorders, I think we could significantly reduce crime by addressing one of the underlying factors contributing to it.

There are several reasons for this. First, many drugs are illegal to possess, so simply possessing them can result in criminal charges. Second, when someone is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, their impulses can be harder to control and their judgment and decision-making can become significantly impaired. Third, getting into trouble because of substance use and being sent to jail or prison often only puts the problem on hold. Many people are eventually released without receiving meaningful treatment, and some are back out in the community the same day they were arrested.

I'm not saying every crime is caused by addiction or that everyone with a substance use disorder is going to commit a crime. Obviously, that's not true. I'm saying that if 85% of incarcerated people have some form of substance use disorder, then treatment should be a much larger part of how we address crime. You can't always arrest your way out of an addiction problem. And considering how easily drugs can still make their way into jails and prisons, incarceration alone clearly doesn't eliminate the underlying issue.

I like the idea of figuring out how to improve people's impulse control. One thing criminals tend to have in common with drug abusers is poor impulse control.

We are bigger risk takers, and statistically women are nore likely to be found non guilty or receive lesser sentences.

[Asker]

Risk taking has nothing to do with evil

[MrChinaski]

Men need to beat other men to reproduce. It's biology.

[Asker]

no that's not true.

[MrChinaski]

is too!

[Asker]

there is nothing that justifies evil

[MrChinaski]

No. Not that justifies it. But there are things that predict it.

[Asker]

@mrchinaski

there is nothing that predicts raping, killing, robbing people of their hard earned money, burglarizing homes, pushing people onto train tracks. Not testosterone. Not ego.

If you have so much testosterone, go boxing or lift weights.

[MrChinaski]

I honestly don't know what to say. Stuff predicts stuff. Night predicts day. Clouds predict rain. Being male predicts crime. It just is.

You may as well tell me that nothing predicts an apple will fall down from a tree instead of up.

[Asker]

@mrchinaski

bro, nothing about shoving someone to death in front of an arriving train is about reproducing.

[zagor]

Women compete for mates in a different way. Look at males of other species, bashing their heads together to win the girl.

[Asker]

that's not true. it's a made up excuse

[Alex-Snow]

You make a good point. Maybe male ego and testerestone have a lot to do with it.

[Asker]

evil has nothing to do with ego, hun.
