One of the most notorious female series killers, Aileen Wuornos literally killed men after being pushed to her breaking point by being raped and abused by men, go figure.
Well, that's an interesting question. I think that, to start with, we have to ask why people become serial killers. Is there a common thread? A lot of serial killers have, when interviewed, talk about their abusive childhoods. A lot have undergone severe physical (often sexual) abuse during very formative years. But many people, both men and women, undergo severe abuse, and don't become serial killers. Not all abused children become serial killers, and not all serial killers were abused. Still, the link is there.
I think that men are often conditioned by society to believe that being emotional is a show of weakness, and that violence is one of the only ways they have of expressing themselves, particularly if they're raised in already-abusive households. In those dysfunctional dynamics, girls are often socialized to be more subservient, while boys see models of behavior where men who inflict harm are 'powerful.' And once you've been hurt so severely in such a formative time, feeling powerful can be one of the most important things to a person. Even in healthy households, though, in western society there's traditionally more of an emphasis for women and girls to be empathetic and caring, and for men and boys to repress their feelings.
I also think that there's a particular subset of serial killer, men who are sexually gratified by women in pain, that are influenced by media, specifically porn. I'm not here to kink-shame anyone, and what consenting adults choose to do is none of my business, but the porn industry has capitalized on women in pain. And it's not just the internet, though that's made it much more available. There's been a lot of porn made where women and girls are in a lot of pain. There's no reciprocal market of the same size, and that's for a reason.
Society conditions men to believe that being 'macho' and 'strong' are signs of success, that it's okay to slap around a woman or to grope a stranger or to catcall. That that's power, and men should be powerful. Conversely, women are expected to be submissive and subservient to those desires. Neither role is healthy, for men or for women. But I think it contributes a lot to why we see very disturbed men use violence as an outlet more often than women.
I made a lot of generalizations in this post, and I'm not trying to make a blanket statement that applies in every situation. I just do think that these factors contribute in that they make certain conditions more or less likely.
I think it’s more why do people become serial killers? Is it a chemical imbalance in the brain? Different wiring? Mental disorders? Lack of empathy? Did their mother not love them enough? Psychological issues? There are a lot of questions. The most well known serial killers are from the US, because mainstream media tends to focus on it.
My guess as to why more men tend to be serial killers is because men tend to externalize things; they take their anger out on others/things. Look at how violent some sports are. Where as women internalize things we blame ourselves, some shut down and then when we can’t take it any longer we lash out.

hopeless men are really dangerous... what do they have to lose? I think they feel better hurting as many people as possible. truth is, a person who is driven from the "Bad emotional energies"... can and will do very bad things to others, and somewhat randomly. women tend to be more indirect, but can lash out as well.
Maybe we should focus on how to heal our damaged emotions... thank you Jesus!

this particular part (s) of the brain is a little tiny bit different in men, and it also works a little bit differently than in women, not completely different and not significantly different but just enough... and it is also more prone to fail in men than it does for women or to deteriorate way quicker
and then you also have environments which in general, tend to be more harsh towards the people who have these "faulty wires" than it is for the rest of us, so in general... men are more prone to just snap and develop these tendencies and then act upon on them without care or a lot less care

If I were to guess, it's not that they're more predatory by nature. It's not that they're more emotional. I'd say it's how men express things that differs. I can't speak for others, but when I get upset, it becomes more inward focused than externally. In other words, my anger is directed at myself more than other people. Perhaps, if that's something that more girls than just myself experiences, then that could explain why we're less likely to externally direct into murder. Or it could mean that girls are more likely to resort to words than brute force.
Either way, I wonder if it has to do with culture and different expectations on women and men, or if it's an innate difference.
I didn't like ANY of your choices. I think this is a nature/nurture issue.
First, there are the male hormones, which are responsible for aggressive behavior in BOTH sexes, which are possibly out of whack in these psychopaths.
Secondly there may be a genetic sex connection. The fact that there are two Xs in females, may mitigate the risk of defects. For example, XYY males exhibit aggressive behavior. Or there may be some other sex genetic defect that makes males more likely to tend towards "psychopathic serial killerism".
Thirdly, there is the nurture theory. It is well-known that psychopaths are byproducts of child abuse, or familial tragedy, like alcoholism or substance abuse or other domestic violence, tragedy or cult behavior.
Basically, it's because men not only have a higher predisposition to violence, but also a higher predisposition to mental retardation. This is not a mean joke, serial killers have been consistently found to have a lower-medium IQ.
According to criminal profiler Pat Brown, the issue isn't so much that there aren't serial killers of other races and sexes, but that the mainstream media prefers to focus on white men who kill — either in isolated incidents or as serial killers — because of their typical victims. Brown wrote in her book Killing for Sport: Inside the Minds of Serial Killers that white men often kill women of the same race.
So, in the eyes of the media, focusing on "All-American" white female victims is more prevalent. That theory makes sense, especially when you consider convicted killers such as Richard Ramirez. He gained national exposure for his killings, possibly because so many of his victims (though not all) were white women. Brown also wrote in her book that there has been over-reporting when it comes to white male killers because, as a whole, there is less focus on killers in urban areas where crime rates are higher overall.

Hey! Psychologist in utero here. Men tend to use physical aggression to solve their problems, while women use social aggression. Since women tend to be physically weaker and less inclined to physical aggression, there tend to be fewer murder committed by women.
I think the biggest factor is repression of emotions due to the toxic labeling of needing help as unmasculine. Testosterone also appears to be a double edged sword allowing either extremely social or extremely antisocial behavior depending on circumstances. The combination of the two leads to overt violence, and it doesn't help that many of these serial killers have been abused as children.
It appears to be linked to testosterone, which appears to make men more violent by nature, and to psychotic and sociopathic tendencies, which also seem to appear more often among males.
Men are more violent by nurture, they’re not allowed to have close physical bonds with other men unless it’s like wrestling or piles after a sports win. They have more access to weapons. They’re also taught that others should take care of them, and if they’re not happy there’s someone to blame.
Well there's female serial killers who also had nefarious reasons.. But the most simplistic answer is... Testosterone.. It's the thing that drove men to build the world around us, the thing that gives us a higher sex drive, the higher levels of aggression also.. Mix that in with being mentally deranged, and that's the simplified explanation..
I'm not a psychologist, okay. I think that it's because men are conditioned to not acknowledge the fact that they have emotions. However since they are human and do experience emotions but choose to hide them in order to preserve their "manliness", they burst after a long time.

Could be many reasons. Men have to hold their emotions in. Men get bullied more. Men don't get enough mental help. There parents most like played a huge part in it. Divorce, girlfriend. Bring different. Life seems harder for men than it is for women. Hard to say. Maybe all unique problems. Women get away with more Things. They even get less time in jail. More poor men join gangs. Women get way more help than men. Heck most get away with beating their husbands. Men it's more physical , women is more mental. It's just crazy how our brains operate.
Honestly, I don't look at serial killers by race or their plumbing. A quick google search will show the names of many female serial killers. One such person was Dana Sue Gray who killed a relative of a close friend. Yes, there are more males, but a little research does show females are doing it too.
More psychosis in men than women. Plus an on average increase in strength of men over women. Coupled with an increase in sexual frustration among men; and repressed emotions expected by society.

My theory would be that women (ON AVERAGE, caps because I don't want some idiot telling ohhh but look that women put her baby in an oven) are less adept, or let me get the right word, less willing to engage in such violent activity, that's pretty much it, again ON AVERAGE, mess with a woman enough and she'll run away from you, mess with a man enough and he'll ruin your life, ON AVERAGE
It's down to the gender pay gap and lack of childcare facilities in the serial killer industry. Hopefully with modernisation and a more equality we'll see more women take up the profession.
Men are more sexually dominant and a perversion of dominance is aggressive and sexual hate, a perversion of sexual reception is arrogance and hold digging, what is natural is corrupted and absorbed into the violent culture of damaged families.
They say more men occupy the fringes of the emotional and intellectual envelope than women. And they may be more likely to take risks.
Leading to more geniuses, more murderers, and more criminals than women.
Men on average are more aggressive. But that doesn't mean you should group men along with serial killers, or judge men for the actions of serial killers. While men are more aggressive on average, the vast, vast, vast majority of men don't do bad things like that.
