Does suggesting dinner mean he’s trying to turn our lunch into a date?

There’s a man I know that I was friends with and I walked away because he kept blowing hot and cold. Recently he went to my Asperger’s syndrome social group for dinner, where I was surrounded by all my guy friends from the group. He started acting really loud and charming towards the new guy, who’d taken his usual spot facing me across the table.

Apparently after I left, he went back to his usual, reserved self. A few days later, I invited him to lunch in a few weeks to a nice restaurant in the western suburbs, just around the corner from my home. He has to travel on a fractured foot from the northern suburbs on public transport to get there and was eager to try the food and he suggested we change it from lunch to dinner, at 7pm. Men don’t usually pursue me. They usually just want my friendship. So I don’t know.

It turns out that he’s married and lied about it. I cancelled the dinner and I’m swapping his company for a girl friend’s.
