I'm flying two hours away to meet someone I met online - Should I worry?

I'm flying to meet someone that I've been talking to for about 4 months now, I'm spending the week with him, I'm 18 he's 19 , I'm worried cause I'm a pretty anxious person. But we've talked constantly for those four months through texting, calling, skyping, every way there is too talk we have. I've met one friend, who I'm close with , and another he is no longer friends with and I've talked to others through texting. I'm so worried something could possibly go wrong, when there's no signs that should make me worry.. Any calming words for this anxious girl LOL

BUT!

I would feel much more secure in if he would be traveling to meet you - not the way this is happening. You're going somewhere where you have no-one you know who you can turn to if things go wrong. You will be on his home ground where you have no idea what awaits you. You need to meet him ON YOUR GROUND first. HE NEEDS TO COME TO SEE YOU! If he will not agree to that then he is not what he seems.

If you do go, Take a friend with you. Get an address of where you will be. Do a property check for that address to make sure the owner is who he says it is (local county courthouse records for that area will have the information). Let local police know when you will be arriving and give your family/friends contact information, including the contact info for the local police. And ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS have a fully charged cell phone that you can use if you need to, and NEVER give it to him. Better still, don't even let him know you have it.

My final thought ... PLEASE do not make this trip. Ask him to make the trip to see you. If he won't do that, as I've said, he is not who you think he is. Whatever you do, please keep yourself safe.

I'm done that sort of thing with no the person even less. I can think of 3 times I've done that to actually meet a girl and a few more options where I could. Beyond that every time I travel abroad I meet complete strangers and sometimes even stay in their house without knowing them.

But I'm a bit more trusting, less worried about my impending death and able to kick ass if need be.

well you certainly are gutsy lol I would never do that. It's normal to worry and be nervous, I've met with someone that came to ME and I was still nervous. It's just important to be cautious. It really sucks that you don't know the area or anything, you don't have any sort of benefit but the fact that your mom knows about this is good. Just supply her with the numbers you've been contacting, and possibly someone else (a friend). Let them know what time you plan on meeting the person, and work out a secret code to text your mom or whoever so that they know you are OK. Also have a code for if something bad happens, but of course if you're really in danger you should contact the police first lol... Are you staying in this person's house? Does he live alone..?

Ok, I'm about to make you a bit more nervous. I don't think you should go. You've met him online, you have never talked to him in person. Who knows what 'strange' behaviors he might have, just saying it's not safe. I would tell him you can't go. If you guys really want to meet I would wait at least a year. Then you know for sure you like each other and want to still see each other.

well you are brave, I would NEVER meet someone from online in person alone, let alone, fly to see them

you should meet in a very public place and if I were you, I would of had a friend go with you. just make sure you have a phone in case you need it

its normal to be anxious in this situation. you don't know what to expect. I went through this before but didn't really get down to meeting him. if you surely feel comfortable doing this then everything should be alright. I really think things will go good for you(: good luck

You don't really need signs, I think you already know that the situation you're in could go wrong... it's not safe even with that but if you're willing to risk it... just make sure you're in a very public place and let your family/friends know where you are.

Well I would be very nervous meeting someone in person after just talking to them for 4 months and going the distance to see him for a week. but in all if you have any signs that it maybe going down hill just leave but my advice is just have fun and see where it goes. who knows this maybe you future husband

Based on what you described I think it will go well. Just be natural and give him a chance to do the same and you both will get the best out of it all.
