The five things I enjoyed about College Life

From 2009 to 2012 I attended college.I didn't get to finish due to unforseen cicumstances. But over time I enjoyed my residency there and learned a lot about life. Here are five things I loved about college.

I had my own dorm room

The five things I enjoyed about College Life

I never was one to have a roommate. I had three in one apartment my first summer semester. They stole my food, snuck on my computer to watch porn, Had 2 cats on campus which animals of any kind were forbidden, they had firecrackers, they often played loud music and had their girlfriends and other friends over at all times of the night. So in the fall of that year I decided to be alone. I could watch whatever on the cable TV the college provided for us, surf the net freely, eat what I wanted because there was noone around to steal my food supply. I could also study in peace, which was hard to do my first summer semester.

The food

My college had several dining options. The most frequent I used was the cafeteria on campus. It was all you can eat. There were several types of pizza, cereal around the clock, always a entree and vegetables, hamburgers and hot dogs, a make your own waffles, sandwiches, pancakes bar, A dessert bar with Ice Cream, cake, pies, cobblers, cookies etc. All fountain drinks you can think of, coffee, tea, lemonade, water, sports drinks, juices, milk etc... We also had a Taco Bell on campus, A starbucks, A Chick Fil A, 3 Convenience stores, a bagel shop/coffee shop in our library, and A subway in the Parking Garage. So there was always plemty to eat.

Free concert every semester featuring a famous performer

Fall of 2009 we had The Fray preform for us on stage. in 2010 spring we had Jordin Sparks and Lupe Fiasco to preform then. 2010 fall we had Maroon Five and One Republic to preforn for us. Fall 2011 Gabriel Iglesais came and did a preformance for us. He also stayed around for a Q&A from all the college students in attendance. I got to meet him he was a really nice dude. I'm usually not big on attending concerts like that, but if they are free for us and big preformers I'll go just to enjoy myself lol.

I loved my on campus job

The five things I enjoyed about College Life

My first job came to me from the University. I was a preschool assistant in the college's Child Study Center which was a learning labratory for the University's Early Childhood Education program. It payed minimum wage, but it was well worth it. The kids loved me because I would come up with stories off the top of my head, and I could get on their level of thinking and understanding. We were also encouraged to wear shirts with "Kid Friendly" characters on them, so I had a few shirts with Sesame Street, Spongebob, Phineas and Ferb, and several colorful polo shirts. Early Childhood Education was also my main area of study, so It was great to be able to get apprenticeship experience and hands on learning through having a job at the university the whole three years I spent there.

A free to low cost healthcare clinic was provided to all students regardless

The five things I enjoyed about College Life

Yes we had free healthcare, but not for everything. If you had a minor cut, fracture, illness such as cold or flu, basic urgent care type cases, then you could go to the on campus clinic for no charge though sometimes a small fee was needed for labs tests but that was mainly $5 for every lab test or x ray etc...They also provided STD testing, vaccines, stop smoking and weight loss counseling, depression counseling etc... all free to it's students. They also had some medicines too but for the most part if you had a script that needed to be filled the local pharmacy they recommended you to would charge very discounted rates. So a zithromax pack would cost you around $15 dolars. Which at times can cost over $30

We also had our own post office, radio station, A vast library with every book imaginable and spanned five floors, We had a K to 12 school on campus, Our own police station, Our own gym and indoor track, Religious and social groups could meet on campus, You could get tutoring help on demand, We had a bank on campus as well.

College was a great time. I wasn't a party student much, but I enjoyed what time I had there. To me it was discovering things that I never would have gotten to otherwise.
