A Piece on What We’ve Learned We Can Expect From The Youth of America and Their Willingness to Stand Up

I’m so very proud of the young citizens of the United States for coming together in mass to say, we have a voice, this affects us and isn’t okay.

What you are doing isn’t easy because it takes first speaking out but secondly refusing to let the issue be just a part of the weekly news cycle.

Keep it up! Show up again in May.

You know, older generations love to disparage Millennials and their younger subset as disengaged and unable to handle day to day life.

WELL YOU’RE SHOWING THEM JUST HOW WRONG THEY REALLY ARE ABOUT YOU.

They dont know how to engage you orbhear younso you’ve taken the bull by the horns.

You bring more hope to not only this country, but the world, with your persistence and demand for change.

My hope is that this lights a fire for you to continue to be engaged in issues that directly affect you like student loans and healthcare.

Maybe even volunteer for young fresh political candidates.

Part of the problem is an aging Congress with many pushing or over 80 years old.

Continue to fight for your voice.

Politicians realize you're a big voting block coming to voting age. Continue to press them and let them know despite their notion that the youth in this country doesn’t vote, you’ll be at the ballot box voting on these very issues.

Congrats to all of you for your courage and a job well done today. It means a lot to the nation and to those of us raised in a culture of mass shootings as the norm.

Just remember to vote as soon as able and not just in presidential election years.

God I hope so! Why has america turned so hard to the right? THis must be what Germany was like in the 20's and 30's

It’s scary to think so. But Germany was much worse basically taking barrels of coins to pay for bread as their currency had colllapsed and they were in debt from WWI.

We have a leader that seeks to use the same stylings that the Nazi’s did to take apart a democracy. But we aren’t in the same place economically. People aren’t as desperate.

The thing that is always important to remember about what happened in German in the decades leading up to WWII is that it can happen anywhere.

The Germans aren’t evil people, this was a systematic manipulation of the people and tearing down of the normal structures in place such as journalism, policing. and governance.

What is happening now in US politics is truly disturbing in an unprecedented way. It does give me comfort that our kids of high school and entering into college age see with fresh eyes that this is wrong.

These are lessons you will carry into the future you will one day lead.

100% so impressive, future leaders of the world and that feels good.

Keep that fire in your heart and knowing that you do have a voice and it matters.

If 25 and indeed show up to vote it would cast a much needed reckoning bringing politicians back to their constituents and not big pharma or the NRA or whoever they are currently serving on behalf of instead of the people that elected them.

Most K-12 don’t have a vote so I think this public demonstration is so vital. It isn’t over protective parents lobbying Congress.

This is kids saying enough is enough. I want to feel safe and I don’t want to watch my friend die. Security doesn’t work, only gun reform works, Australia is a perfect example.

So important, fresh prospective that young adults can bring, fresh eyes. They inherited the mess and said, this is stupid, no more. No more assault riffles with large magazines. Not too much to ask.
