I work in IT. Generally, employees should not be searching for porn sites or anything that has nothing to do with their work. If you just typed in the word "sex" and didn't click on any porn sites, then you should be fine. Based on the organization/company, some sites MAY be an exception: YouTube, Yahoo, etc. Most organizations/companies have firewalls installed so that even if you type a sex site in the address bar, it will block you from seeing it. However, that may get noticed, especially if you boldly type in a porn site in the address bar. That's typically a big NO-NO at your work's company network. I'm not saying you were, but we don't necessarily know that. However, it doesn't necessarily mean you are in trouble either. The only way you would be in trouble is if you were brought into the office and warned to not do it again and you still did it again anyway. IT may notify your manager/supervisor if it's an habitual occurrence. But usually, the manager/supervisor requests for audits on an employee's internet use. If your manager/supervisor is not aware that you did this, then you should be okay, I believe. I'm not sure how many times a person could do it before we would become more active in monitoring a user because it depends on each organization's/company's policies/procedures. If it's just this one time, then you should be fine. But I'd be nervous if you continue to do it from here on out. Like I said, it also depends on the organization's/company's policy on this. Certainly be careful what you type, but typos do tend to happen. Keep that in mind.

Where were you doing the search? If you're at home of course it doesn't matter. If it was at School they've probably got blockers set up so it doesn't matter. If it's at an office building and they've got a monitoring system in place they might've gotten an alert but since it's only once they probably won't act on it. Usually most jobs only react when things are being downloaded that may contain viruses. Other than that you're probably fine. Very few countries monitor sexual images online and those that do wouldn't waste the resources to track non government employees. You can go to your history and delete it if you're really worried but you really have no reason to be.
I'm sure everyone makes typos. Just try not to do it again.

No problem, don't think it's anything bad. No one will hurt you lol. I don't think they will even notice it. They can't monitor every page and every request, probably not even aware.
If the company is too big, there are too many requests to even monitor at all. They just log some of them and check the from time to time. But after a while they get deleted.
Either way they are not allowed to disclose information about employees to other employees I believe.
I speak as a computer programmer and it guy that knows this stuff...Nah. I don't think any place is that uptight about it.
I was once talking with an attractive female worker and I went to type something one my computer and typed "sex" (talk about subliminal thinking). She saw it and just grinned. Maybe I should have ended it with "?"...DON'T delete the history. If you do, that'll make you look guilty that you were looking up something wrong. By some chance if they bring it up just say "My apologies I meant to type 'six' instead of 'sex'." Then move on with your life
No, I don't think you are going to be in trouble or something, so what if they are monitoring? I think you are just overthinking.
Delete your recent history. But they might be monitoring. (Probably are.) Since you immediately corrected the search, though, you're okay. :)
You're probably fine :p If you want to get it out of the address bar, type "se" and then use the arrrow keys to find your "sex" entry and then hit the key.
if you searched just "sex" then it's an obvious type as most add other words to such a vague search term.
if it was "i eat sex times a day"... no commentMy fingers do that all the time they do what they want to do not what I want them to do. But if you get confronted which you probably won't, just let them know it was a mistake.
delete history from the day u were using it including cookies. its no worries unless you went on a website
Doesn't matter to everybody. But keep an eye on those IT and Internal Audit guys if they give you different kind of looks now.
Don't worry about it. Leave it as it is. You googled sex. It's not like you clicked anything else.
if you weren't on there for very long they probably won't do anything
its ok once in a while
No, you won't get in trouble
Either you'll get fired or you won't
