Can a foreign name lower your chance of getting a job?

I live in Australia but my full name is not an Aussie name.
I've been applying for receptionist jobs for a couple of months & I've not had one call back.
I can only get temporary roles which I’ve had to do but I need something permanent.
I've done lots of reception work but no one will give me a permanent job.
I was thinking if my name has something to do with it?
Or what can I say to get a call back?

Yes, in many places this is the case.

People with a foreign name or living in a certain "bad" neighbourhood usually need to send way more applications before they get invited to a job interview.

In France they now sent in anonymous application to make an unbiased decisions when hiring.

Or I should leave my name off my resume & just have it on my Cover Letter

No idea if that would work, in France its the law.

So maybe you can google it, if this is a viable option.

Because if its not, your resumé would be sorted out immedeatly for being incomplete.

I wouldn't be surprised. Even with anti discrimination laws employers will use things like that to sift out people. It's not just foreign names, people with low class names can have the same problem.

It shouldn't. I'm sure there are lots of people applying for the same jobs as you and maybe they have more experience than you or maybe their resume is more detailed than yours I don't know.
