What's it like working in a bar?

Used to work at a couple bars as a server and bartender while I was in college. I made good money and it can have its pros and cons depending on the bar. It can be fun watching drunks act stupid and can be entertaining. I always got hit on by drunk guys and would tip good or ask me out instead of a tip. As a server its easy serving drinks. It can be annoying when people order food and it takes forever for food to be ready so they will complain at you thinking its your fault but its not. I loved messing with drunk guys when I was a bartender. When they ask me to do a shot with them and what shot I want to do, I'll give them my "sexy" shot that is random and gross. They will drink it and want more lol. Drunk women can be nasty towards you also if you are an attractive girl. Just have to ignore them they're drunk and jealous.

It's a good job if you have have your head straight and aren't into the party scene. You can get paid, cater to a crowd, and watch people hit on other people (successfully and quite horridly).

If you're in the party scene, live each day as your last, it's one of the jobs that will tolerate moderately functional behavior.

It REALLY depends on the venue, management, and clientele. It's often much harder than it looks, and in a busy bar, the stress levels can be very high. But if can handle it, you can make a lot of money.

There are more laid-back "Cheers"-style bars, but you won't make much working in those.

Watch Bar Rescue. While it isn't 100% real (no reality show is) it can also give you a good look at successful and unsuccessful bars, and what it is like for the staff.

Good money for a young person, but the lifestyle can suck you in. And very late nights, so be careful. There's cocaine everywhere and going home with cash every night can have you waking up 10 years later wondering why you didn't do anything else with your life.

It could get depressing cause you are in the party scene day in and day out and also guys are always hitting on you and there is a high risk of rape too if you are not cautious which is why I do not think its smart to go in very short skirts.

Loud, can be stressful but for most parts an easy job. Your in control, don't serve the person screaming highest, serve the one that behaves and cut the drunk people of instead. That way you have order in the bar.

Busy, loud, fun at times and you deal with a lot of belligerent drunken assholes! Tips are great though! And you meet a ton of interesting people along the way!

Depends on the bar. Quiet wine bars are not to bad, but "after work" drinking sessions are bad. Even worse are late night bars.

Very loud, drunk ass holes. You see a lot going on that can be entertaining or full of drama.
Always drama.

You get lots of drunk people that just want to have fun and be rowdy or very chill people that just want to enjoy a nice drink and chat

Depends, but, i would imagine pretty tough, because it's a tipped job. You're expected to make minimum wage, in your wage AND tips, combined
