It's not uncommon for people who are materialistic and need to be better than others to choose business as a major. There goal is to make as much money as possible. I guess they believe "he who dies with the most toys wins." Business isn't necessarily a bad field, but a lot of people who get in it are giving it a bad reputation. Studies have shown that companies that thrive care about their employees. The people you're describing, and unfortunately many companies, care only about themselves and their own bottom line.

Sometimes a majority of the whole school can be this way when most of the students are from rich homes. If you want to make a positive change in business, don't give up on your major because of the actions of others.
