This is presumably the same effect that was seen in an experiment to prove whether the Earth is flat or not. Someone said that, if you looked out over a harbour from sea level, you should be able to see the base of a distant lighthouse, whereas if the Earth is a sphere of the known diameter, you shouldn't be able to see it at all.
They performed the experiment, and you could just see the tip of the lighthouse. Of course, the Flat Earther claimed victory from the sane prediction being fractionally wrong, ignoring that theirs was completely wrong.

Yea kind of like the idea of a Halo moon, it’s normally happens In the winter when there clear sky’s but i the high atmosphere there are tiny ice crystals that causes the moon to look like it has a halo
