I'm a working RBT, in nursing school for my RN. My plan is to become an ICU travel nurse here in California. Right now with COVID there are gigs paying $10K/week for 13 weeks. That's $130,000 for just over 3 months of work!
Post pandemic it will be more like $7K/week, but that's still close to $100K for only 1/4 of the year. My annual work schedule will look something like this:
December-Feb: Working (13 weeks)
March-April- Sailing in the Caribbean, Whitsundays, South Pacific, or somewhere else for a month or so.
April-July: Working (13 weeks)
Beginning August: 2 week staycation, just visiting friends and fam
August-November: Working (13 weeks)
End of November: Thanksgiving and visiting friends and fam vacation
December-Feb: (13 weeks)
With three 13 week gigs, I'm looking to bank 250K-$300K/year, with about 13 weeks left over for vacations in between. I'm quite content to earn 1/4 million and have 3 months of vacation each year.
The really cool part about it is the immense flexibility I have. If there's some event I want to attend, such as Carnival in Brazil which will be in the end of February this coming year, or the Songkran Festival (Thailand) in April next year. I can plan around any of these events I wish to attend.
Owning your own business seems nice, but there is a lot of attention and potential headache around that. I invest and plan to continue to do so, letting my money earn more money via interest and also cryptocurrency staking.
I plan to be a business owner in the next few years. I need to gather up some cash to start and pay off my debts. My girlfriend and I plan on running our own businesses plus one between us as well. I want to run a food business, she wants to run a home consultation business in sex therapy, and we both want to do an only fans and pornhub ^^
yes I trust her in her line of work because, well there are multiple reasons but we also want to be a swinger couple anyways and i keep cameras around but that's in case of home invasion actually.
I wish I could be self-employed doing my own thing, that was the plan as I wanted to be an optometrist with my own small business with a manager hired to run it. But that didn't work out coz I'm studying to become a nurse. But I like how things are working out now.

I'm Self-Employed but would rather be a business owner. Business owners have so many pathways to avoid taxes and can set their own hours as long as the job gets done. Being Self-Employed is awesome for the freedom it grants, but there are no guaranteed benefits and the taxes are murder.
I am happy where I am, however it’s not a 9-5 job as it’s a global company.
I’ve spent a number of months now having meetings with both East and West coast US.
Doing one to one reviews is fun lol as it take a couple days of evening meetings or getting up early for an hours talk lol.

I have to disagree with the image, time is definitely the biggest advantage of self-employment.
You have the most flexibility when you are self-employed.
It's money that's usually the bigger problem when you are self-employed, because you don't really have the leverage to negotiate better deals and often have to undercut the bigger competition in order to come out on top.
Well in the roundabout way I have three of them already right now and I enjoy all three of them but I would also like to have the fourth one LOL but that doesn't make you any money

So: the money I earn is not wasted on ''travelling'' or consumerables (sic!).
I do have a life, though... it's just one that many can't comprehend.
Travelling - At other places I'd only meet other assholes. It's the same shit, otherwise.
My work-time - is flexible; I deliver results and solutions, not just presence.
I just recently opened my own business. But I'd rather just live day to day, travelling on the road in a van/home and just living how I want.
Have a job where you work in schools. Good enough money and plenty of vacation time off too. Problem solved.

It took a lot to get where I am today. I worked hard and many hours and made a lot of sacrifices to start my business. There are pros and cons of owning a business but the benefits outweigh the cons.
A well paying job. I was technically self-employed for a while and had to always be in the go and that shit got exhausting fairly quick.

I used to be self employed and am now doing 9 to 5, both are fine with me. I make enough money and I am about to travel for 1.5 months, fully paid.
Currently unemployed, the type of jobs I search are like 8-7 with some travel.
C, but different hours because I would never want to be a banker, lol.
