Because it's a 50/50 gamble from their own experiences. Personally, the "quiet child=naughty child" narrative my parents, my friend's parents, and every adult in-between stuffed down my quiet ignorant throat turned into me turning into a rebel in highschool. It's what the adults in my life expected, what they wanted to see. Adults have a lot of power and influence when we're young.
I don't know that's sad. I was quiet kid too because I was shy, I never hurt anyone or would even dream of it, heck I'm a hospital nurse now because I like to help people.
I did throw a book at a girl and gave her a black eye because her voice annoyed me and woke me up
