I have been at the same job for a very long time, I have certainly made some sacrifices for my family (long vacations as our as our children age) well as my career (took on a larger role at my workplace which involves travel). My husband left a job he very much enjoyed to work for himself and be available more for the family.

I gave up a nursing career when I got married, but I wouldn't really call it a compromise since I always planned on quitting work when I got married or had kids.
