I feel the easiest thing to do is to start small at a hobby and commission basis. Contacting local companies that could benefit from what you do is also a great way to get some continuity - less scary than it sounds.
What art stuff specifically? Clay? Knitting? Sculptures? Clothes? So on. Very tricky for us to get specific with such a broad term.

To be honest the margins in most things would be so small you're better off getting a job and trying it as a side hustle first. Some sort of gift basket maybe. What can you make from raw materials? Or are you just going buy finished product, repackage and distribute?
Do commissions for a while to build your brand, and reinvest some profits into your business and in getting new or better equipment or materials. Maybe sell online.
