Should school teach ideological things?

I think honestly school should be impartial. It shouldn’t side ideologically with a faction or another, it should only teach history as it has gone.
It should maybe focus on National spirit improvement so it should make kids learn respect for the country regardless of the ideology of their families.
I know it’s very difficult for some countries to detach themselves from their ideological past but it’s important to build citizens without ideological influence. Kids has to form their political convictions in autonomy with experience and without following a guided path… otherwise, it’s political indoctrination.
I know. I agree, but there was a time when the left was more patriotic than the right, at least here in Italy. Nowadays left is very pro-globalisation, and this will be the ruin of every nation. National spirit and a patriotic respect of institutions will be the only way for each nation to survive and to preserve their identity.
It’s a really complicated matter. They consider themselves left but I think they’re basically a center-liberal party, as you said they’re very few left wing. They abolished some rights for workers and sold National properties and companies to foreigners.
But once upon a time, before 1991, we had a strong left party that was also a strong nationalist party. Its members were also people who fought for the country against fascism during the war. With ideologies collapse, that party vanished and has been substituted by the flowery liberal party.
Oh sure. It is evident that every EU nation prefers to look at his own interests, since EU isn’t a proper Union and is only meant to bound economically nations… so it’s a very weak union. If it doesn’t change in a real confederation with common aims and purposes it won’t survive.
Ideology needs to be balanced with reality. Having grown up during the Cold War, we were taught that the Soviet Union was evil- but (and this is important) we were never taught that the 'people' of the Soviet Union were evil.
In school we learned about the tremendous sacrifices made by the Soviet Union during WWI (The Great Patriotic War), as well as their scientific achievements such as pioneering work on television and their early lead in the Space Race: the first man made object launched into space, and the first man in space.

Only ideological things that is good for society as a whole. Not only for the 1%. It should be good for the one doing it and everyone around them. All ideological statements should be explain why you do them, how that affects others, and what the affect is if a grear majority follow them. In that way you have the incentive to do them. Or not do them if the result is bad.
It should teach the truth about our government civics and founding but parents allow schools to function in opposition to their Values. We allow the same thing that Hitler’s Germany citizenry allowed…”You feed and clothed them and I will take care of their mind.” Hitler when speaking about governance, Stste, snd Hitler Youth.
Schools should stick to actual history. Sadly, anyone in a position of power can write the books used in our schools' curriculum. The left is teaching kids that math is an ideological thing too.
Schools should teach reading, writing, math, geography, health, and foreign language. Everything else the kid can learn outside of school and that includes history, art, science, sex ed, physical education, religion, etc
Grade school?
Probably not. But then again American school goes over the holocaust a lot and civil rights movement.
So if a student ask why they did that you might have to answer.
What grade are we asking mind me asking.
