no matter what side you support, I find it weird when there’s these little kids at political rallies and stuff like that. Clearly their parents are planting ideas in their head and I think you should at least wait until they’re old enough and able to make up their minds on their own.

I don't attend rallies or anything like that, but I express where my support is, why I support it, and what are the arguments my position run into the most and what the counter arguments are.

What I'm more concerned about with my children is their ability to reason and argue their points. I also don't have political myopia and can give brief history lessons about the retarded moments of all political parties. This is how it was when I was watching the news and The Mclaughlin Group argue as a child with my Great Grandfather and this is how it is now with my children. As a result we're all pretty much non-partisan and only have current leanings based off of logic, reason, and track history. Because parties change and I'm not going to stick to a side if they don't align with my reasoning just because that's my side... most of us shouldn't have a "side." They don't give a fuck about you as an individual. My children understand who I'm voting for and the reasons why and that's all that matters.

Look we should strive not to teach our children WHAT to think, but HOW to think. Show them referencing different sources & the evidence provided and cross examined. It should be treated like you can have an opinion on any topic though when presented with logical, reasonable, thoughtful talking points from both sides can really help them to strengthen the truth because the truth doesn’t care for feeling. Facts matter, truth matters, opinions matter, and our children’s future lies in knowledge & striving towards a powerful non-biased education. Period.

*edit I would be taught by my English teachers to hear a ‘bold’ statement and then create our own opinion then look at both sides of the argument / middle ground articles then discuss with our fellow students to shape a multi leveled fact based statement + an opinion that resonates with it based on what we read & discussed. That is how everything should be, not being given the answer on the silver platter by a biased side however research it in a meaningful way.

The rallies are rather harmless, the kids are just bored.

Its much more the little things, at home everytime you tell something the kid will absorb it like a sponge and remember it.

Children can be VERY SOPHISTICATED & DISCERNING regarding politics. The research is fascinating tbh.

That said, I'm not sure what the difference is between and "indoctrination" and "teaching values" is. If you're cosplaying at a rally the kid just be a prop or virtue signaling. who knows?

It's best to discuss politics at the dinner table often instead.

Not really. Indoctrination is just another word for education. I think parent's should have the ability to educate their children. As the children grow they will inevitably learn that their parents are fallible and choose what they want to continue to emulate and what they don't.

My kids watched their parents work hard , pay taxes, respect the law and love America. We did not indoctrinate them, They all went to college and they all have good jobs , pay taxes and are big Trump supporters.
