Do you think parents on both sides should encourage their kids not to hate due to political differences?

Lots of parents discourage their kids from hating based on religious differences. I think political differences should be viewed the same way. Obviously, everyone has the right to be religiously and politically whatever they want. That is part of a free society. But that doesn't mean it's okay to hate others.

No, hate is important as a protection mechanism in society. America for example is founded on political hate and while there are also important movements of love such as the civil rights movement there are equally important movements of political hate such as the civil war, WW2 or the aftermath of 9/11.

To try downplay or ignore this when hate plays such an important part of our lives, including for the good of ourselves and society, is doing your children a disservice. Rather than being told that they should not hate, they should instead be taught how to deal with hate without it becoming a burden or unhealthy. It is a powerful drive and important to what it means to be human.

it won't matter because schools have more influence over kids than parents do these days and schools are filled with woke teachers indoctrinating kids to be hateful

Oh I think we are beyond that now. How do you undo the hate in a youth that is already lacking social skills due to social media?
We can be dry and get each other. Our parents grew up in a different time that we learned about through them. Kids these days you have to be careful saying anything to. So many are clueless about real life.
