Would you rather go to a job interview than a spa retreat you had planned in advance?

I just finished my MA in History and as a present for myself booked a spa retreat some months ago. The retreat is in two weeks and lasts from Monday to Wednesday.

I don't have a job yet but I have sent applications for the last three months.

the question came up when one of my friends asked me what I would do if I called in for an interview during the spa retreat.

I said I would tell them I couldn't but would ask if it was possible for another day.

She called me a spoiled brat.

Now I'm curious, what would you guys and girls do?

Considering it is a job interview, I would reschedule the spa treatment. That is something that can be changed. A job interview you skip out on is a missed opportunity at a job and possible career with that company/employer.

This would be an easy decision for me. Given that it has been three months of waiting to get an opportunity to interview somewhere, I’m surprised it wasn’t an easy choice for you. Career and job take priority over something that is not a necessity.

Plus, not hard to just reschedule the spa day to some other day when you have time. I get why you are treating yourself but sounds like your priorities are not where they should be.

It can be tough to get an interview, let alone land the job. You want to take every opportunity you get when searching for employment. I suggest next time prioritizing your interviews over nonessential things. That is just the way I look at it.

It sounds bratty-like to me. Actually, it sounds like Student who has lived off everyone else wallet. I am a landlord and quite familiar with the University, both under and PhD, mindset. It would seem your better Interests would be served my finding your own job. :-)

I would ask if it's okay to have it on another day. I don't think that's selfish. I mean if you made plans for it then you might as well try to reason with them a bit. If they said it had to be that specific day, then I guess the spa retreat ain't gonna happen 😔

It would have to be an interview for a very coveted position for someone to opt for it rather than a spa retreat, but trying to schedule the interview for another day is the best thing to do.
