Question about old dates on a resume , are they needed?

my resume is really starting to look out of date , being in my 30's it starts to look dated when you say you went to college in 2006 . that was a long time ago and i've never had an employer ask me what year i went to school , so not really sure how or why its even relavant.

and is also old dates for some jobs i had earlier too , not sure how to address this without making resume appear thin on info about me

It's assumed that your college graduate date will go further back into the past with every year. That's a good thing.

If you've been at the same job for a while, it's also good for that length of service go be evident.

If you've job hopped, keep the most recent and relevant experiences and drop whatever no longer fits.

If you're going for something specific or you have a lot on your resume, consider hiring a resume or career consultant to help you out.

Never put college dates on your resume, and they can't ask because it's illegal (if you're in the US) It breaks eeoc law. Anything past 10 years on your resume you can get rid of. Unless it's incredibly relevant just take off anything past 10 years. If you have good tenure then it shouldn't be an issue, and it helps hide age.

So to answer your question just get rid of the college dates it doesn't really add anything beneficial to you for them to be on there. The only thing it does is help hiring managers determine your age

i took off the college dates , had talked to an hr lady about them and she said its ok to remove them and they didn't really add anything and as you say only helps them determine my age and when i went to school

Employers don’t actually read them. Especially multi page versions. On one resume I put skills like “Part time ninja,” & work history “UFO Abduction Insurance Sales, Pet Psychiatrist”

I went for an interview and they were asking job related questions when I noticed the made up bullshit they said nothing about it.

They are looking for stability. How many jobs and years served is important. You know what that looks like. HR looks for 7 years and longer for a corporate job. If they smell job hopper then you better have really good experience. If you are just starting out then it will be a cheap grab. They try to balance it... GOOD LUCK !!!

i've never worked anywhere over 7 years , was more wondering about education dates than job dates. as i went to school a long time ago and makes resume seem old

Yes. 15 years is a drop date for that. I put my degrees after my name…that make sense? They will ask if they care. LinkedIn should have it. HR loves to use that to cross check
