If you were in a relationship during college did they let you dorm together?

I know it’s probably not gonna apply to a lot of if not most of the older generations but I’m curious since I’m thinking about going to college and so is my boyfriend but I’m trying to convince him to stay on campus because it would be easier for him than just traveling back and forth constantly and we talked about forming together so we could help each other etc.

This did happen at the college that I went to, but it was kept hush-hush. If it wasn't a problem, they would overlook it. Usually it was a guy or young lady who had seniority and had a single room, and the person they were dating would basically leave their double room and spend most of their time living with the other person. It was not really allowed, but if the other person had a room to go back to then they overlooked it.

A lot of colleges in the US have co-Ed dorms where both genders can live
