I work from home now, but my last job was all about this. We literally all really enjoyed each others company. We would get off work at around 8pm a couple times a month and go to the local Mexican restaurant and party until they closed. We had a kickball team and a running club that a lot of people really got into. We had an annual Christmas party for all staff that was legendary. As many as could come would go to weddings, movie nights, dinner nights, you name it. We even all famously went to the hospital right next door to us where our co-worker had given birth to sing a sweet song to her and her new baby. There were so many of us, the staff were super confused at first, and for obvious reasons wouldn't let us all inside at once, so a small group went in and the rest of us sang from the hall. I really really loved that job and the people there.

I have no desire to be 'friends' with my immediate coworkers, but I do enjoy being friendly with everyone on my team.

If the stars align, I like becoming friends with people my age/life stage at my company and sometimes (with the free food and booze) there's a time and a place for the right social opportunities to suggest finding a new lunch buddy, which could turn into drinks after work, which could turn into friends if you play your cards right.

I stay away. I do not connect with anybody. Either they all drink (which I never did or do) or they all keep talking in Spanish and they have to keep switching to English for me.

Other than that, in any case, I hate being in a group of more than 3 UNLESS they are old high school buddies or relatives. I hate being part of conversation in large groups.

Fortunately, I work evenings, so I have an ironclad excuse not to attend. Everyone else can go hang out, and I'll be sitting at work, by myself. The way nature intended.

Nope, not if I'm not getting paid.

If they want us getting paid to have a paid day event, then sure... I take that as a way to get to know them, but not going to use my own free time to hang out with them.

The masks, it's a very good choice there.

I don't want to hangout with them after work usually. No hate towards them. After work I just want to be home. I can get to know them in the morning and during breaks. That's enough for me.

Sometimes. It really depends. If going has an impact on the job, no, and start looking for a new job - that's not where I want to work anyway. If I like the people and the place, then maybe.

Really it depends on the type of event, I've been to Christmas parties and shit like that. It was me fun. Family picnic is kind of cool

Yes, it helps you get to know your colleagues and talk about more than just work with them. I've made some life long friends this way :)

I wouldn't. But one time my old job was having a potluck and no one even told me about it. I wouldn't be invited or notified about any social thing anyway.

Sometimes my clients have events like that and I will go, but I give my employees bonuses rather than do that.
