Girls, Why Girls prefer Accounting more than Guys?

I am a Chartered Accountant and Business owner in Dubai and I receive a lot of Cvs and Job application from girls. Why do girls get into accounting career more frequently than guys? I own this firm and My email is stuffed with girls asking for jobs :)

I'm not really sure why that is. I have a very limited accounting background. I had to take a decent amount in school for my degree. I am not an accountant however. I work in the medical field.

Until the end of the month when I officially take a different role, I was the office administrator at a medical practice. That includes a lot of things, like some accounting. I never minded it.

A quick search engine search produced the following interesting article that explains why this might be the case. Pay particular attention to the very last paragraph:

It seems that accountancy jobs allow for a balanced work/home life. They don't get into much detail as to why. I couldn't tell you either having never worked in that field to what the article describes.

If that is the case that it is a career that allows a nice balance, I certainly would understand why it is women dominated profession.

Strange, because accounting and business administration is what I got my college degree in; my college-level classes in accounting were clearly dominated by men. I'd say roughly 2/3 of my accounting classes were men. I had to go back to school to meet other requirements for the family-owned businesses I operate.

I think what makes it blurry is the number of women in clerical jobs that involve bookkeeping or some facet of accounting. Even some smaller businesses have employees dedicated to specific accounting functions like payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, tax management, etc. The medical community in the US has people who specialize in insurance billing which involves a pretty complex matrix of coding and submission.

But when it comes to true accountants, like Certified Public Accountants, I don't know whether or not it's more of a guy or girl profession. I know more CPAs who are men than I do women.

I hit submit too early. I think @PrettyPriya makes some good points. It offers some balance between work and home life. Add to that accounting (or jobs that employ any facet of it) is a job that no longer requires being tethered to a distant office like it was in earlier times. With the internet, shared drives, remote access, and access to external accounts I really don't have to leave my living quarters to do any of the accounting requirements of my businesses. I'm spending increasingly more time doing the business and accounting requirements of the job (although I do it downstairs in the office) and leaving other aspects of the business to staff, figuring when I have kids I'll need to find a good balance between both.
