Several of our retired lecturers gave lectures in our finance management class. They say to focus on happiness in life more than money. Do you agree?

Not only our latest guest lecturer sir, but many other people in our college told us thst we are too much focused on money.

So much so that we are on the borderline of inhumanity as we look at things from a really practical point of view.

What do you think about this advice? Is it practical? They said that we as a whole take much more tension regarding the income than is needed.

They also said to give preference to your family as compared to their job, from their experience.

What do you think about all these advises? Again, are they practical?

I tried to make a poll out of this question, but figured that the answers may be a bit complicated. Hence a typical question.

I agree with them. Of course, that money matters because you need it to eat and to pay your bills. However, there's no point in having millions in your bank account if you don't have a family or friends. You die and the money is kept by those who are alive, you don't take it with you. Whereas if you have a fulfilling life surrounded by people who love you and respect you, you die happy.

There are many problems that we have on our world that we wouldn't have if money wasn't the most important thing for so many people.

This is mostly good advice, but it is foolish to ignore the practical.

No one lied in their deathbed wishing they spent more hours at work.

If you do not have enough money o pay for your basic necessities, you will live a life of misery. But if you have enough money to pay for your housing, food, utilities, health care, etc., more money won't make you happy. When you die, your headstone will not say

"Here Lies The_Shadow_Dweller,

His Ending Balance Was $________

And He Drove A Mercedes-Benz."

People who are settled and don’t need to worry about paying bills shouldn’t give life advice and say don’t worry be happy

Be homeless and penniless for a week, and Nature will tell you what the real answer is.

Yup. Money is necessary to fulfill basic needs. But past that point, it just starts to get vain. Family and relationships are way more important. Money is only the road, not the end point.
