there wasn't anything wrong with your grammar in your question, nothing to apologize for at all.
English is not an easy language to learn, there are so many rules and exceptions to those rules, it will drive you insane at times.

I guess Evey good parent wants their children to get a headstart and they saw English as an open opportunity to prepare for what's out there. Afrikaans is a young language globally and only related languages like Frasian and Dutch understand it.

I don't think so because I've always been good with social interactions and have had the gift of gab really but I am not good at math at all. Like I hate math.
