Does a top-up degree carry the same academic weight as a full degree in the UK?

Hi all, If you guys know me, I’m not one to ask personal questions on here. But desperate times call for desperate measures and I’m here seeking opinions.

I have received an offer letter from the University of Birmingham to study Bachelors of Science (Honours) in Business Management (Top-up). As this is a Top-up program, I start University as a year 2 student (I’ll have to complete year 2 and 3 to graduate.)

I have seen conflicting information online, stating that ‘ A Top-up degree is no substitute for a bachelor’s degree’, while another states ‘A Top-up degree is equivalent to a final year undergraduate degree.’

Firstly, what does it mean by ‘a top-up degree is no substitute for a bachelor’s degree’? My course is a Bsc (honours) degree but a top-up program.

Secondly, will my certificate have the words ‘top-up’ on it?

I was offered this program as I have a Diploma in International Business with relatively decent GPA. I was given enough exemptions to skip a year, and so this top-up program starts from year 2.

Latest update: some sites say I graduate with a full honours degree considering that it builds on my pre-existing qualifications.
