Throughout your life, a lot of people are going to try and bullshit you. The GOP is very good at that. Regardless, it is important to make intelligent decisions and often say "Hey, wait a minute..." when someone starts to talk. Higher education will teach you a lot of facts, but it will also mature you in a way that will make you say "Hey, wait a minute..." because you are smart enough and mature enough to realize you are being bullshitted or, at best, that the speaker is ignorant.

I'll let Neil deGrasse Tyson speak... He may be something of an overrated bloviating asshole at times, but he is spot on with these...

Now, he is talking about science and he's right but there's a lot of bullshitting going on that isn't directly related to science. What higher education does - if you are open to it - is cause you to become a smarter, better, and less lazy thinker overall. The bullshit artists win against the uneducated because they are easier to fool. That's why the GOP is so successful in states with low levels of education (and why that top graphic is true). It's also why the GOP right now is doing everything it can to ruin education in our country. Education is innoculation against their evil.

Nope especially with so many advanced degrees in fruitlesss arts. My friends and i got computer jobs by certification not by academic bachelor degree etc.

It depends on what you’re using it for. In my personal opinion, it’s valuable if only because having that education can improve whatever skill you’re looking to improve. The institution where this happens is also where most people learn to think for themselves rather than being led by outside opinions such as the media and your parents, AKA critical thinking skills, which I consider to be very important as we live in a nation where a disturbing amount of the population sees morality as a means of reward vs punishment rather than the complex inner workings of mind and action for the ultimate good or ill of the world.

I studied a different job in school but I loved university, I felt like I was in heaven when I studied there.
