I accepted a new position without telling them I'm pregnant?

I planned to tell them once my benefits kicked in. It's nothing personal but I need to secure a job for my growing family.

By the time I tell them I will be 4 or 5 months. And pretend I just found out.

Do you think I will get away with it or they will fire me?

Fire you? No. Trust you way less? Yes. That's a terrible move. Not what you're doing but how you're doing it. As a manager or team leader, I want to know these things so I can plan ahead. But that's not the main point -- the main point is that talking about this in devious terms, "pretend I just found out." It is your personal issue. Unless the pregnancy impacts your ability to do the job, it's yours to tell or not to tell. But I guess just make that the conscious choice rather than hiding it and pretending to just find out.

That is a totally legitimate worry. Depending on where you work, though, firing you for that isn't legal. The ins and outs of employment law on this are really complex, and I'm not an attorney. That said, assuming you're not working in a factory or heavy industrial area, just report to work and let your manager know. Something very simple, "I just wanted to share the great news, I've learned I'm pregnant". Assuming it doesn't impact your ability to do the job, you should be fine.

My friend keeps saying not to do anything until I know all of the rules. My job doesn't have maternity leave they have short term and long term disability that starts 1 month after employment. She keeps telling me not to and my therapist agreed. My therapist thinks if i tell them now they will turn around and fire me. My other friend says they won't or can't but they will trust me more... I don't know

You're smart to be thinking about this. However, neither me, nor your therapist, nor your friends are employment lawyers. You need to start with Google and search for employment law in your city/state/country. Then, if you are still in doubt, Google a law firm that specializes in employment law. They'll give you a free consultation.

Again, though, unless you lied to them on your application or a pregnancy would prevent you from doing your job, there's not much ground for them to fire you for.

Depends on company, mine... you could get hired and benefits kick in after your first month. The health insurance doesn't ask if you have any pre-existing conditions or pregnant or anything like that.

People have been known to get hired and 4 months later get paid maternity/paternity leave, through a third party insurance company. 30 days for men, 3 months for women.

The only questions asked is, if your a smoker, drinker or use illegal drugs... as those increase your paycheck deductions.

Be honest, if they ever asked... if they didn't ask, I doubt you need to volunteer that information. Of course this depends on where your located, laws in that area and the company.

Yeah, that's not likely to succeed when you give birth in what they would understand as a new pregnancy. Once they find out, they can cancel the benefits or have the insurance company investigate for fraud

If you don't disclose any relevant medical information to their insurance company, knowingly, that's called fraud.

For example, if you're a smoker with thyroid cancer and you disclose that, you'll pay a higher rate or be rejected. Hiding that you'd get coverage for less, but then they'll get hit with sudden expensive medical charges to treat your cancer.

I'm an antinatalist which is enough to make me dislike you in the first place. I wouldn't mind otherwise but I also hate people who take advantage of others for their own gain. I don't care if you wanted to "secure" the job because you wanted to me a family. You shouldn't have gotten pregnant in the first place if you were not sure your economic state could support the new family member. Now, you will probably get fired when you give birth (or some months later, I don't know the laws). So you did secured NOTHING. Pretty irresponsible. But my point is, they'll probably fire her when they law doesn't protect her anymore so not only she didn't "secured" a higher position but she'll lose the one she already has. Or she'll get relegated to her old position. Or maybe if her boss is a SIMP, she'll keep her position, lol!

FMLA applies to all public agencies, all public and private elementary and secondary schools, and companies with 50 or more employees. These employers must provide an eligible employee with up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave each year for any of the following reasons:

For the birth and care of the newborn child of an employee;
For placement with the employee of a child for adoption or foster care;
To care for an immediate family member (i. e., spouse, child, or parent) with a serious health condition; or
To take medical leave when the employee is unable to work because of a serious health condition.

You aren't required to tell them that, and in the US employers are generally not allowed to fire you for being pregnant, although it depends on the state and the company size.
