Obviously it’s not indoctrination for parents to teach their children the religion of the family. (Or in my case BOTH religions and allow me to choose for myself). But it is (by definition) indoctrination for schools to teach any set of ideals “uncritically”, including religion, politics, or sociology-economic models! Because by the definition of the word indoctrinate, any ideal taught “uncritically“, meaning without teaching others’ or THE other IS indoctrination. Public schools have no business indoctrinating students in any subject matter, LEAST of all, religion!
Yes, I think it is in both cases. No one should be forced into believing in a religion. You either believe it or don't believe it.
Besides whenever someone is forced to do something, it always goes wrong. Then the parents complain that their kid is not like how they wanted them to be.
Force them to practice it or force them to learn? I don't think it's indoctrination to teach about it. When you "teach" it by saying it's right and everything else is stupid and evil, and this is what you have to believe under my roof. That's indoctrination. But having a religions class in school, or teaching your kids about your own religion or other religions, I don't think that's bad. It's good for them to learn so they can make informed choices.
so its not indoctrination for either parents or schools to teach religion?
No. Not if they teach it like a subject, and not a pledge.
just curious but would you say the same thing about a teacher teaching about homosexuals?
Yes teach about sexuality as a subject, not a pledge. Don't teach kids homosexuality is "the right one" and they are bad if they don't practice it. Teach about it so they know what it is and make their own decisions.
What's your view what you think about this type shit in schools?
i think it should be ok for teachers to teach about what being gay is or means and then let the kids decide what do do with that.
i keep running into these people on the far right pushing their religious views on their kids but then claim 'indoctrination' when people teach anything about homosexuality.
Yeah I don't like those people. If the only reason a kid is Christian and straight bc they were forced to be, then they ain't Christian or straight. They're just trapped, by you.
By definition, it’s both. But I have no problem with a religions class. Or even a Christian religion class as an elective. That’s giving the student or parent the choice. I particularly liked the religions course. Teaching about other religions gives perspective on your own.

Dissolve the dysfunctional teacher's union. Let the money follow the kids to whatever private or public school they and their parents want them to go to. And then ask this question. lol
Its indoctrination for schools to teach that but not when parents teach that.
why not for parents?
It is indoctrination for both parents and schools to forcefully teach one's religion onto kids without consent.
Indoctrination: process of teaching a person or group to accept a set of beliefs uncritically.
It's indoctrination if any religion is presented as the one truth.
Forced to deepthroat lies? Sounds horrible
