I have a good base in Spanish, is it ok to add Italian simultaneously?

I am learning Spanish for a while now, but now I may be in Italy for a long period of time, and I will need to know the language. On one hand there are many similar aspects, and on the other hand each language can get me confused with the other. Can the base that I have in Spanish help me not to get a mishmash in those languages?

I don'know how is for an English speaker, but for a Spanish speaker learn italian is not so easy as for Italian learn Spanish.

Italian has more complicate but clearer grammar then Spanish that is almost unregular language.

For a native speaker they are very similar languages, not for English speakers. They are also full of false friends, i. e. words that have one meaning in one language and another in another, e. g. "burro" which in Italian means butter, while in Spanish it means donkey.

Italian is undoubtedly more difficult for English speakers than Spanish. Remember that it's not by much, but it is slightly harder in most areas, making it slightly more challenging when the component parts are added together. It seems that Italian moves more slowly than Spanish for the majority of students, writing as someone who has taught both languages to mostly English speakers for many years.

I know Spanish and learning French at the same time. I believe it is a little bit confusing since they have similar base but at least you learn the second language easier than the other ones :)

Exactly, some things can confuse, with the spelling or similar look but other meaning

Its always good to learn as many languages as one can.
