The guy is lying in the video unless he got an aa degree before finishing high school. I went to WHU and an AA degree is required before admittance into the BA program. He must have been studying the content before enrolling so he could take the tests quicker. And he certainly didn't do the teacher's college because there are state tests and certifications that take more time.
He is telling the truth about it being competency based. Proctored tests to pass a class require a minimum of 80% to pass and final term papers require 100% to pass. It is around $3,500 per semester and you take 1 class at a time. However many you can pass during that time the price doesn't change.
WGU degrees have higher requirements for teachers than many CA in person colleges do and it is accredited and accepted nation wide.
I think he did the Sophia learning to get extra credits. And Sophia is an open-book test that gives you credit for math like calculus.
I am wondering if I can take out a permit and do classes at wgu and transfer it back to my home college. I don't want to finish at WGU because it will become saturated with people finishing up at wgu.
And employers will not be impressed because they'll have to deal with a bunch of ass clowns who got their degree at wgu.
Learning math like linear algebra takes more work than passing an open book test on, Sophia. Maybe you can get away with theoretical math like calculus, but applied mathematics, where you need to know what you are doing, and you can't just look answers up in a text book is going to be a problem on the job.
I think WGU is excellent if you already know the coursework and prove it on your resume. Anyone can finish a coding boot camp in 3 months, but understanding applied mathematics is what separates good coders from average or bad ones.
I wouldn't want to take that many classes to have a degree in 3-6 months.
I'm doing Colorado Christian University, where you can take one class at a time.
