I was in conversation today and my friends complained about how evil my parents were for screaming at me when I got below 95% in my high school classes but I don't view myself as a pity case. If I did not get yelled at every day, maybe I would have studied at George Brown or Centennial and not the school I went to. I believe that if I worked as hard as your average grad student - that I could go to any school and study any major on earth. I studied 1-4 hours a day during my last 2 years but if I had studied the 14 hours a day the STEM kids did - I could probably be a brain surgeon.
You can work hard and not succeed, but that's life. You either dust yourself off and try again, or move on and try something else.
Rather than live by the whole "you can achieve anything you want as long as your work hard enough" premise, my philosophy is..."you won't achieve anything, unless you try".

Just the opposite.
I believe you can achieve anything if you can figure out how to turn it easy enough.
