How are you at spelling? Or do you rely on a Spell Check app to keep you looking like a spelling bee champ?

On places like this site I just type conversational English as it comes out of my mouth. I don’t proofread or plan whatsoever. I’m actually a relatively talented creative and persuasive writer when I try. Misspellings generally get picked up by a spell checker of some sort automatically and turned into the wrong word being that I tend to spell words phonetically and often type on a keyboard in my lap in the dark while I’m half asleep which leads to many typos. It’s 2:54 AM right now. So don’t expect the best out of me on GaG. This is goof off time, not my time to shine. I think I spell relatively good for someone with dyslexia that is half asleep reclined back in a chair in the dark. The large majority of the words come out as planned. Every once in a while I miss a couple keeps, stop mid sentence because I'm distracted by something else, or just spell something totally wrong.

I mean I have no illusions of being a spelling bee champ but I am pretty bad. Lol! I learned mostly from trial and error over the years and rely on phonetics to get me to whatever words I’m looking for. It often is an issue. Lmao!!! How about you?

Well thank you! Lol! I had a lot of help from spell check but I type worse than I spell. This message shouldn’t have been as big of an issue really.

I'm a pretty fair speller and in fact have shut off that damn work correction program on my iphone as I think most of us are better spellers that damn app. In the case of your above example I might have had a serious problem as well spelling Eucalyptus, close enough though to get it across to the 911 dispatch.

Yes, just ask her to spell it back to you to see if you got it right.

No im really bad at it. Whenever I text my friend, well hello typo. Not only misspelling the word, sometimes i mispronounce it as well. I don't know what’s wrong with my hand and mouth.

Your fingers are just hitting the keys in the wrong order. That happens to me too. The most common for me is to type waht instead of what when I am trying to type fast.

I'm a great speller but I can't type for crap. Sometimes spell check changes my words to something totally different. I always have to read what I typed to see if my words were changed

I am pretty good but have occasional lapses when there are two ways to spell word (dyeing, dying) and more than one way to say it (laying, lying ).

not everything is in the spell check database. i would assume it's worse for people using the app and using automatic correct/spelling without checking if it's what they meant to say
