What would you think if a teacher scolded a 17 year old girl because she is too shy to speak up in class?

Nothing really. My default assumption is that this teacher knows the circumstances and student better than I do.

Some people need a scolding for their own sake. It isn't as if many teachers enjoy it much like most parents do not like screaming at their kids.

If it turned out to be unfounded and done out of malice I would hope for the teacher to be fired. But if all we know is they scolded someone when said someone didn't do reasonably asked for school tasks, that makes sense.

Of course with more information I might disagree on scolding as a solution. But I don't have that. And I am going to assume that professionals in their own field who do have information generally know how to handle their job better than I do when I have none.

I had something similar happen. I had broken my arm and the teacher wanted me to cut these Easter or Christmas cut out and I couldn't do it straight due to my broken arm and having plaster on. Boy did the teacher get pissed at me and said something like why can't you cut the paper straight. I legit had a broken arm with a cast on at the time I didn't know what to say I was just embarrassed but now as an adult I think the teachers was a bitch

Too many young adults these days where never challenged to be us uncomfortable situations and end up not being able to do basic tasks as adults because they are shy or not able to deal with any level of confrontation or awkwardness
